Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS COUNSELLING? Counselling is a process of talking with a trained therapist about the difficult, often painful events and experiences in your life. This helps you find insight and understanding about the feelings and emotions that are affecting you. You will be listened to and supported without judgement or criticism. You will be encouraged to find your own solutions to problems but will not be given advice or told what to do.
HOW OFTEN DO I SEE THE THERAPIST? It is best to see the therapist once a week, for a minimum of six weeks. A counselling session last for 50 minutes. During the initial consultation, dates and times for your sessions are arranged. It is best to have a session at the same time and same day on a weekly basis. After six weeks, you can review how you feel you are progressing and continue with your sessions for a further agreed period of time.
